I never blog about any military clothing set as I find them incomplete without the basic human figure itself, thus a boring stuff to talk about, but this recently announced Marine Sniper set by Very Hot Toy (VHT), a China based toy company, may have changed my perception.
Being a sucker for both forest/woodland camouflage and the M4 rifle, I'm instantly sold. My knowledge on military figures is limited to only what I have in my collection but most veteran military collectors mentioned that this is a rehash or remold or "pirated" from the old Hot Toys USMC Operation Iraqi Freedom figure that was released 6 years ago. So to veterans and old timers this set is nothing to shout about and may not be worth getting the full set. But I like to look at this set as suitable for beginners who wanted to start their own military collection. From what I've experienced with my first Multicam VHT set, I can safely say that almost all of what they offer can be used and not as bad as what other people might have said. Sure there are rooms for improvement and some fans of military figures might just complain and argue about how VHT refuses to improve from their previous releases. That is expected as VHT isn't one of those companies that actually listens to their fans. Being a company that reuse molds from other companies I believe it is crucial for them to remain anonymous to avoid lawsuits, but that's a discussion saved for later. Not that I have a problem with that, I believe they have their own reasons to do so anyway.
Anyway, from the looks of it, this set can be pretty decent and might just be worth picking up. We might just see this reach our shores before next year.
